David Ackert is an actor, producer, writer and entrepreneur. He has starred in several independent films, including Maryam, Cool Crime, Woman on Fire, and the upcoming This is not a Test. His television appearances include CSI: Miami, Monk, NYPD Blue, The West Wing, Six Feet Under, The Agency, Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, JAG, and PBS's award-winning educational sitcom Crossroads Cafe. He has performed in plays at theaters around the country, most recently at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

He was an Executive Producer on Listen, a one-hour documentary about at-risk teens and their mentors. He wrote and is currently producing a short film entitled Blue Plate.

Mr. Ackert is a published fiction author. His latest story, Stray, co-authored with Benjamin Rosenbaum, appeared in the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. He has written for and contributed to over a dozen articles in publications including the LA Times, The National Review, Backstage West, and the Daily Journal, and quoted in several trade publications and books on business strategies for the entertainment industry. He teaches courses for artists and entrepreneurs through UCLA Extension’s Entertainment Studies department.

He is the founder and CEO of The Ackert Advisory, a training and development company that serves middle-market clients. He has developed and implemented business development programs for national legal, accounting, and financial service firms. He has served as coach and advisor to over 200 CEOs, government executives, and VPs, hailing from local companies, as well as global entities like Disney, NBC, and TWBA\Chiat\Day. He is the founder and leader of the Growth Group, a chapter of Provisors, which caters to Los Angeles business professionals under the age of 40, and is a founding member of the Advisory Board for California Executives.

Mr. Ackert serves as the VP of Program Development for the Boy Scouts of America’s WLACC, and serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Voices in Harmony, a non-profit arts organization he co-founded in 1995 that provides extra-curricular and classroom programs for at-risk teens around the world. He was one of the nine people awarded as a “Difference Maker” from Ithaca College in its recognition of alumni who have made a meaningful impact through community service initiatives.

The story was also selected for “Fantasy: The Best of the Year” anthology. His next collaboration with Rosenbaum, “King of the Djinn,” will appear in Realms of Fantasy in 2008.
