He was an Executive Producer on "Listen," a one-hour documentary about at-risk teens and their mentors, and is currently in post production on the feature-length documentary entitled" Voices of Uganda." He wrote and produced a short film entitled "Blue Plate.," an official selection at the Downtown LA Film Festival.
Mr. Ackert is a published fiction author. "Stray," co-authored
with Benjamin Rosenbaum, appeared in the Magazine of Fantasy and
Science Fiction, and "King of the Djinn" was first printed
in Realms of Fantasy. Both stories were reprinted in various anthologies.
Mr. Ackert has also written for and contributed to over a dozen
articles in publications including the LA Times, The National Review,
Backstage, and the Daily Journal, and been quoted in several trade
publications and business books.
Mr. Ackert is a regular speaker at the SAG Foundation, presenting topics such as "A Business Plan for Actors" and "Making Friends with Rejection." He was a recent speaker at LACBA on the topic of life balance and is the speaker at Provisors' "Revenue Accelerator Workshops." He teaches courses for artists and entrepreneurs through UCLA Extension's Entertainment Studies department.
Mr. Ackert is the co-founder of Voices in Harmony, a non-profit arts organization that provides programs for at-risk teens around the world. He was one of the nine people awarded as a Difference Maker from Ithaca College in its recognition of alumni who have made a meaningful impact through community service initiatives. |
